Toxins build up over time in your system and begin to tax your organs of elimination to the point where they can’t function properly. This compromises the immune system and creates an internal environment that is ripe for manifesting disease. The liver, kidneys, lungs, lymphatics, colon and skin are your organs of elimination; they are constantly hard at work ridding your body of all the bad stuff that comes in.
How would you know if your organs of elimination are not functioning optimally? If you suffer from constant fatigue, allergies, migraines, sinus congestion, skin rashes or get colds easily, then chances are they could use a little help.
Reducing your toxic load can help you feel more energetic, can clear up recurring symptoms, enable you to manage stress better, steady your moods and reduce the frequency that you get sick.
We encounter toxins daily in the food we eat, the air we breathe and the surfaces we touch. Although we don’t have control over everything we are exposed to, there are many things that do fall within our control, namely what we put into (and on) our bodies and the products that we use in our homes.
Simple Ways to Reduce Exposure to Toxins:
FOOD: Read labels. If you don’t understand the ingredient list, put it back on the shelf. Choose foods with 5 or less ingredients, all of which you can understand. Eat whole foods as close to how they are found in nature. Avoid packaged, processed fake food. Avoid anything with artificial flavors and additives. Drink more water.
Many of us are diligent in avoiding toxins in what we eat and drink, but don't pay much attention to products we spray (and inhale!) in our homes.
Read the labels on any product you put on your skin and any products you clean your home with. Products you put on your skin get directly absorbed into your bloodstream. Only use all natural skin care products. Many are simple to make at home using common ingredients. Replace toxic air fresheners, counter and window cleaners with homemade, all natural ones. Create your own bath and beauty products using carrier oils such as coconut or sesame with some essential oils blended in.

Yes, people are toxic too! Avoid people who leave you feeling deflated and discouraged. Surround yourself with positive, inspiring, like-minded people. Pay attention to your thoughts; if you catch yourself having negative thoughts, re-phrase and re-program to thoughts that are loving and supportive.
Reducing your toxic load improves your overall wellbeing. Your body and the planet will thank you.
